Chris Gregg and Maddie Johnson share their fantastic week at RYLA in the Rough.
The latest Daybreak-sponsored campers shared their adventure, puntuated by a Powerpoint presentation with many photos. RYLA, the Rotary Youth Leadership Award sends junior and senior high school students to the District 5870 RYLA in the Rough week-long camp at the LCRA McKinney Roughs park, thus the "in the Rough" moniker.
Chris and Maddie are shown here with Andy Hoffmans, Daybreak member and past-President who organizes our RYLA effort this year.
Chris and Maddie spoke of the many activities during the week, all focused on team building and leadership skills. Maddie said the thing that surprised her most about herself was that she could actually get up at 5:30am and could talk to people without her iPhone "crutch." Chris's surprise was that he could step up and take charge of an activity even though he did not know the participants well, nor did he know their capabilities.
The two quality (incoming) Seniors at Marble Falls High certainly made great strides in their leadership abilities. Congratulations, Chris and Maddie.
