Dave McGaugh of the Hill Country 100 Club, talked to us Tuesday, about  the 100 Club, the first response for first responders. Whenever a first responder, or their family needs their help, they strive to be ready whenever the need arises, within the first 24-48 hours of an incident, to provide assistance. The four counties supported by the club are Llano, Lampasas, Burnet, and Blanco.
A 501(c)(3) non-profit, the 100 Club is an all-volunteer group supporting first-responder families, bringing hope in the face of tragedy. A group of six members started the Club in 2001. Robert Klaeger helped set up the legalities and Dave was a founding member. Now they have 360 to 400 members! Membership is just $100/year.

The 100 Club is devoted to providing immediate financial aid and emotional assistance to the families of first responders who have been killed or critically injured in the line of duty. Ongoing support and counseling is also provided as needed.

Awhile back, a volunteer fireman was killed while fighting a fire at his very own house. The membership decided that his family qualified and they were able to support them. Families can now ask for up to $25,000, quite a bit more than the original $5000.

Hill Country 100 Club also focuses on helping first responders by providing scholarships for those who chose this profession, as well as recognizing them among their peers at their annual banquet.
You can support The 100 Club by attending this year’s Hill Country 100 Club 17th Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet. It will be held on:
