Trish Walker serves as the Housing Navigator for the Texas Housing Foundation’s Community Resource Center in Burnet County and as the Community Liaison for the Salvation Army of Burnet County. In December 2019, Trish retired from Marble Falls Independent School District after 31 years of service in the Counseling Department as an assistant to the counselors. During her career, she supported countless students and families, hosted College Fairs and Scholarship Nights, assisted with high school graduations, and found great joy in encouraging students through both challenges and achievements.
Preston Ingram is a Rotarian and Chairman of the Burnet County Salvation Army section. The faith-based Salvation Army was established in the 1830's in England. Its first ministry was to coal miners. In addition to local and regional fund-raising efforts, the Salvation Army is funded through a trust established by the founder of McDonald's.
There is not a local Salvation Army "office". Burnet County does not have paid Salvation Army staff or uniformed officers. The Burnet County Salvation Army undertakes a number of initiatives. It sends children up to 16 years old to camps, coordinates the holiday bell-ringing initiative and answers calls for assistance throughout our county and beyond.
The Hallmark of the Salvation Army is: "We help people who need to be helped!"
