Bill Drake, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Highland Lakes, had exciting news about the Club expanding to serve even more youth.

The B&GC operates presently in Marble Falls and Burnet, with a new teen center in Burnet. Llano County may soon have a unit as talks are ongoing to develop a club in the Kingsland area with an eye to later expansion into the City of Llano. Bill emphasized the economies of scale to have additional units supported by the existing management infrastructure.

Begun in 1860 (deeper history here), the Club stresses academics, nutrition and character develop in the youth they serve. The mission: To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. With increasing family problems leaving youth unattended after school and juvenile offenses on the rise, there can scarcely be a better resource for our youth. Kudos Bill and staff.
